The Global Fund to End Modern Slavery (GFEMS), whose mission is to eradicate modern slavery and forced labor, is pleased to announce that Mary Hedahl will be joining the Fund’s leadership as the Head of Philanthropic Partnerships.

Hedahl, a seasoned development professional, has been fundraising on behalf of social justice, human rights, the environment, and the arts for over 20 years, having worked at the New York Civil Liberties Union, Human Rights First, Natural Resources Development Fund and, most recently, Fair Trade USA.

“We are thrilled to have someone of Mary’s caliber and experience at the Fund,” said Alex Thier, the Fund’s CEO. “We must continue to elevate the fight to end the shocking persistence of modern slavery around the world, which means increasing the partners and resources dedicated to this challenge. I know Mary will be an essential member of our global team.”

Hedahl will spearhead the Fund’s efforts to secure philanthropic funding to support and scale strategic investments in critical efforts around the world. “This feels like a culmination of my life’s work of fundraising on behalf of marginalized and disenfranchised communities. I will do all I can to end modern slavery in my lifetime,” Hedahl shared.
