Sophie Otiende

Chief Executive Officer

Sophie Otiende is the Chief Executive Officer of the Global Fund to End Modern Slavery (GFEMS) and the founder of Azadi, a survivor-led initiative in Kenya. She is a survivor leader and has worked in the anti-trafficking area for nine years. She serves as the Vice Chair of the Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking and is the recipient of the US Trafficking in Persons Report Hero 2020. She previously worked as the Regional Operations Manager (Africa) at Liberty Shared and later as the Director of Consulting for Survivor Alliance. She also served as a member of the Board of Directors for GFEMS. Sophie has a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Business Administration and German from Kenyatta University, Kenya.
